Cable re-tensioning works are currently on going on the Samuel Beckett Bridge as part of routine maintenance works. Re-tensioning is required in order to ensure that the required forces are maintained. The works consists of recording the current force in the forestay and backstay cables and re-tensioning the cables to their original force.

Further night-time bridge closures will be in place next week in order to complete these works. The bridge will close to both pedestrian and vehicular traffic at the following times:

No further closures are planned at this time but we will update this post if there are.

UPDATE: We experienced technical difficulties this morning (Tues 11th) when reopening the bridge to traffic. This was due to an unanticipated error occurring within the bridge software system which took some time to fix. We regret any inconvenience caused to commuters and are working with our maintenance engineers to ensure that the remaining planned works are completed with minimal disruption.
