We took a trip down to Rosie Hackett Bridge this morning to see how construction was coming along. The public transport priority bridge links Marlborough St on the north with Hawkins St on the south. It will handle the new southbound cross city LUAS line along with two bus lanes. As part of DCC’s #MyDCCDay Twitter initiative, Lord Mayor, Councillor Oisín Quinn, tweeted the opening date as the 20th of May.

We chatted to Resident Engineer, Conor Evans, about progress to date and the work still to be done. Detailing is currently under way with the majority of significant works now finished. Crews are laying LUAS tracks from the bridge into Eden Quay this week with the same work to be done on Burgh Quay next week. Conor also explained how the piles for the bridge run 8 metres into solid rock below the abutments (where the bridge meets the quays). We’ll have lots of Rosie Hackett Bridge photos, timelapse videos and more in time for launch on the 20th of May. We hope you come back to learn all about it.
