Island Bridge (1753)

A drawing from 1753 of the City of Dublin viewed from Magazine Hill, Phoenix Park. The arched stone bridge visible in the image was built in 1577 before being swept away by a flood in 1787. The replacement bridge, that still stands today, was named Sarah's Bridge before changing name to Island Bridge in 1922 following independence from Britain.
