O’Connell Bridge (c.1905)

View of O'Connell Bridge from Aston Quay. The elaborate edifice of the Dublin Bread Company can be seen as the highest building along the city skyline. The company operated a popular restaurant at first floor level, with smoking rooms and recessed balconies on the second floor. It was a landmark for only 15 years and was completely destroyed in the Easter Rising of 1916 – only fragments of the facade survived.
